One Used Box Truck, Then a Warehouse
Doug Allen grew up in St. Cloud, where his dad ran a small engine repair shop off 13th Street. At nineteen he started loading furniture for a storefront on Vine Street, then ran crews for a big Orlando van line up and down I-4 before opening Allen’s Moving & Storage in 2013.
“If a piano has to come down a townhouse stairwell, I still ride along myself.” Doug Allen, owner
Why Kissimmee? It sits between old Osceola cattle country and the vacation-rental corridors along US-192: a retiree’s ranch near Lake Toho in the morning, a condo turnover in Reunion by the afternoon.
In 2016 we added what most local movers never build: our own climate-controlled storage warehouse. Move out today, move in next month, one crew and one contract, nothing handed off. That building anchors our moving and storage service.
Today Allen’s Moving & Storage runs 7 trucks and 14 movers on W-2 payroll, with more than 4,200 moves behind us. Carmen runs the office in English and Spanish, Eddie dispatches, and Ramon, Pete, and Luis lead the crews.
The Road So Far
- 2013: Doug founds the company with one used box truck
- 2015: Carmen Solis joins; the office goes bilingual
- 2016: Our climate-controlled warehouse opens in Kissimmee
- 2019: Truck number four joins the fleet
- 2023: Our 4,000th move
- Today: 7 trucks, 19 people, one warehouse
Every job, from a local move across town to a long haul up I-4, runs on the same written flat rate.
